ACTIVITIES

The Intergovernmental Panel on Harmful Algal Blooms (IPHAB) is the only global intergovernmental effort to understand, manage and mitigate the harmful effects of algal blooms. The mission of IPHAB is to assess progress, decide on priorities, and identify funding sources and opportunities for implementation of the IOC HAB Programme.

The activities of the IOC HAB Programme are defined every second year by the IPHAB. The IPHAB and its activities are an integrated part of the IOC work plan. The current activities are shown in the diagram below. As from 1 November 2021 the IPHAB is cosponsored by FAO as the IOC-FAO Intergovernmental Panel on Harmful Algal Blooms (IOC-FAO IPHAB).
